Fordson Developments are a family run building company based in the Stamford area. Lead by father and son team Mick and Jack and their team. We have a huge wealth of experience in the building trade, and draw on local traditional skills and techniques. We have a long history of sourcing and using the correct materials – such as Collyweston slate – for projects.
Our team of fully qualified professionals all have specialist experience in their chosen field of expertise. Aswell as our team, we also have a network of carefully chosen sub-contractors to ensure all work is completed to the very highest standard, on time, every time.
Meet the team…
Mick Ford
Director
I began my career in the construction industry as an apprentice, working on site with experienced craftsmen in 1976 and completing a bricklaying apprenticeship at Tresham college Corby. Twenty five years later I progressed to Company Director of my former company Sheffield and Ford Builders Ltd.
As well as an office based administrative role, I still very much maintain a hands on approach with our projects including site supervision, and now I’ve combined my many years of experience with my son Jack and have started our new venture, Fordson Develpments – a new business taking my trusted, dedicated and hardworking team forward into the future.
Jack Ford
Director
I have been in the Construction Industry since leaving school and trained in Bricklaying at Grantham college. After over a decade of experience I have gained a wide range of skills in the heavy side of the construction industry. In my previous role, I’ve been involved in all aspects of the trade from starting projects from scratch, to preparing sites for excavation, all the way through to the finished product.
Recently I have just restored a barn into mine and Harriet’s first home, and now I will be looking forward to pushing our new company further and producing work of the highest calibre.
Christine Ford
Accounts Manager
I trained as a shorthand typist at the Rutland Sixth Form College Oakham, then started working for a local Cement Company as an office junior. I later worked within my fathers business until I got married and our Son Jack was born.
When Jack went to school I decided to have a change of career and started to work at the local Nursery School, progressing on from that I became a Child Minder, and after 10 years of Child Minding an opportunity arose for me to work along side my Husband Mick within his former company Sheffield and Ford Builders, where my duties were administration and accounting.
Now I continue the same role within Mick & Jack’s new company Fordson Developments.
Harriet Smith
Office Manager
I have worked in an office for the past 10 years with various roles. My main duties have been administrative, accounting and recruiting. I am very organised and passionate to get the job completed thoroughly. I will be looking after the enquires and HR and all other office duties.
Outside of work I enjoy shopping, planning mine and Jacks wedding and looking after Milly.

My day to day duties involve walking Jack, chewing shoes and making sure I say hello to everybody I see. I get paid in strokes and bellyrubs. I do alright for myself.
